Chapter 7A practice certificate is not a real one
In this chapter your mentor demonstrates issuing a real certificate. You put a practice (SAMPLE) certificate and a real one side by side, and learn why a technical score of A+ and the official trust level are different things.
- You can explain the difference between a SAMPLE certificate and a really issued one in a table.
- You know that the technical score (A+) and the official trust level are different.
- You know which parts of real issuance a trainee does not do.
The idea in plain words
A SAMPLE certificate is the practice certificate the practice page shows. Its serial number starts with XPC-DEMO-, and it is not added to the official issuance record (the issuance registry). The card itself says “Demo sample certificate · not proof of a delivered service.”
A really issued certificate is signed by the pilot certificate authority and registered in the issuance registry, so anyone can look it up publicly by its serial number (chapter 8).
A technical score (PipelineScore) of A+ means the file went through all five processing layers. On the practice page any file you put in gets an A+. So an A+ does not mean the file can be trusted.
The official trust level (TrustLevel) says whether the certificate authority that signed is on the international official trust list. This site is currently “pilot · not listed.”
Mixing the two, as in “A+ officially certified,” is an exaggerated claim. It can cause legal problems and harm the company's name, so the two are always stated separately.
Real issuance handles secret keys and operating records, so only the mentor does it. Trainees watch the screen and do not touch the admin screens or the keys.

Try it yourself
- Make the SAMPLE certificate from chapter 2 again and read the badge text and the technical score on its card. What you should see You see the text “Demo sample certificate · not proof of a delivered service” and an A+ score.
- On the certificate preview page, see which fields a real certificate contains. What you should see You see fields such as the issuer, the serial number and the validity period.Open the certificate previewSign-in needed
- Your mentor demonstrates real issuance. Watch the screen and write down what happens at each step. Do not touch the keys or the admin screens. What you should see A serial number starting with XPC-2026- is issued. With your mentor
- Make a comparison table. The rows are SAMPLE and real issuance; the columns are serial number format, registry entry, signer, technical score and trust level. What you should see The difference between the two rows is clear at a glance. The trust level is “not listed” for both.No sign-in
- On the limits page, find the explanation about scores and trust levels and copy it in one line under your comparison table. What you should see You found the explanation that the technical score is not an official certification.Open the limits pageNo sign-in

- Can you describe how the serial numbers of SAMPLE and real issuance differ?
- Can you explain why an A+ is not an official certification?
- Do you know what a trainee does not do during real issuance?
Easy to mix up
- Common misunderstandingIt got an A+, so it is an officially certified file. What is actually trueA+ is a technical score that means every processing step was done. The official trust level is a separate question.
- Common misunderstandingA really issued certificate is on the international official list. What is actually trueThis site's really issued certificates are also signed by the pilot certificate authority, so for now they are not listed.
